In depth

Formwatch

Clandestine Winning hurdler who shaped better than finishing position suggests latest but will struggle under topweight on belated return to Flat here.

Monte Carlo (IRE) Lightly raced last two seasons and looks on downgrade.

Alrisha (IRE) Won poor Salisbury handicap in June but now 4lb higher and looks vulnerable at this grade.

Gracilis (IRE) Progressive handicapper who has been credit to connections having won last four starts; has improved 31lb since winning sequence started but may still be capable of defying handicapper and looks sure to go well once again.

Pride of India (IRE) Out of Gold Cup heroine and improved for step up in trip to win twice earlier in season; may prefer more cut in ground and now looks in grip of handicapper.

Jack Dawson (IRE) Has found his form with avengeance winning handicaps at Ayr and Chester (Hugs Dancer held); has never won off mark this high and may have to settle for place money.

Hugs Dancer (FR) Has shown consistent level of form for step up in trip but looks held by Jack Dawson on Chester form.

Laffah (USA) Thorough stayer who landed this event last year off identical mark; has failed to sparkle of late but first-time blinkers may help to sharpen him up.

Keep Ikis Won three handicaps last term and gradually returning to form; races off fair mark and not without a squeak of reaching a place.

Renaissance Lady (IRE) Has been well placed to win twice this term and ran up to form latest; acts well on fast ground and should stay (winning hurdler).

General Jackson Still a maiden but ran career best for step up to extreme distance latest and no forlorn hope at a big price.

Alcayde Dual handicap winner at Bath and shapes as though will be well served by step up in trip; acts on fast ground and may be able to offset being 2lb out of handicap proper particularly with good claimer booked.

Course Doctor (IRE) Useful winning hurdler but best form with give in ground and finished stone last on firm ground latest.

Sharaf (IRE) Shaped promisingly on belated return but races from 9lb out of handicap.
