Verdict

Fascinating to see Samcro head the weights for a Galway Plate and he looks potentially well treated with Jordan Gainford's 5lb claim factored in. His recent form figures tell their own story but he has his chance off this mark if everything drops right, and it's a similar story with stablemate Battleoverdoyen. Willie Mullins has seven entered incluing a reserve, of which this year's Topham Chase winner Livelovelaugh makes most appeal with trip and ground to suit. Royal Rendezvous and Brahma Bull enter calculations while Home By The Lee looks the likeliest of Joseph O'Brien's five being open to significant improvement over fences. Plenty of others merit a mention but the choice is THE SHUNTER, beautifully placed by his shrewd handler last season and looking to face ideal conditions now. He impressed at Cheltenham and Aintree earlier this year and can scoop another major pot.
