Verdict

No favourite has won in the past ten years but it's a race Dermot Weld loves to win and he's been successful in four of the last seven, two with Robbie McNamara in the saddle. Pay Day Kitten is the stable pick this time and though she looked a very progressive type last season potential backers would need to forgive a very poor reappearance at Leopardstown. UK raider John Quinn has booked champion point-to-point rider Jamie Codd for Swynmor though he went up a massive 14lb for his Chester victory. DIGEANTA won his first four races before stepping up in grade. He made a promising reappearance over a trip too short after a long break at Bellewstown and with this track and trip likely to bring out the best in him he's given the vote. Marchese Marconi has to be a major threat as he's been in excellent shape recently while Quick Jack was in superb form over hurdles at the turn of the year and Tony Martin will have him tuned up for this. Wither Hills was very impressive in beating Beau Michael at the Curragh but he's 7lb higher and this is much tougher.
