In depth

Verdict

In a wide-open Handicap Hurdle ASMOLIAN only ever does just enough making him hard to assess for the handicapper so we think he could land a hat-trick ahead of There's No Panic and Bolton Hall could also feature. A winner by less than a length when putting in a late charge on his last two runs the pick continues to deny the handicapper. He has a bit more to do now under extra weight but he gets on well with this jockey and conditions are perfect. There's No Panic won well last time and looks to stay at least this far. He's up 9lbs for that run but we are interested to see that Paul Nicholls books an amateur to take weight off his back perhaps suggesting the champion trainer thinks he's a little high in the handicap. Bolton Hall is a former course scorerer and has found just the one two good on his last two runs. He did his best to chase home the winner last time but the handicapper hasn't done him any favours. In Media Res showed a spark of form last time and looks well-treated on the pick of his runs but Ashmolian is running well and should land a hat-trick.
