In depth

Verdict

THE RAVEN’S RETURN comes out best at the weights in a weak-looking maiden. Seamus Mullins’ charge never threatened when fourth at Warwick recently but can go close in this with a more fluent display of jumping. The latter’s stablemate Officernisi is clear of Rio Gold, Laoch Beag and Blazing Glen at the weights but arrives in woeful form while Dartmoor showed little at Ludlow on his first start over hurdles and is hard to recommend.

Formwatch

Laoch Beag (IRE) 66-1 (11-0) Held up in touch in rear, pushed along after 7th, outpaced when ridden after 4 out, lost touch after next, plugged on to take modest 4th near finish, 4th of 5, dist behind Danse Idol (11-0) at Fontwell 2m 6f (4) gd in Apr.

Officernisi (IRE) 150-1 (10-12) Held up in rear, not fluent 3r out, soon went 4th but no chance with leaders, went modest 3rd before 2 out until close home, 4th of 7, 26 1/2l behind Dolphin Square (11-4) at Newton Abbot 2m 6f (4) gd in May.

Rio Gold (IRE) 20-1 (10-11) Held up towards rear, ridden and no impression when slight mistake 2 out, soon no extra, 10th of 15, 19 1/4l behind Weekend Offender (11-12) at Ballinrobe 2m 2f hcp gd in May.

The Raven's Return 14-1 (10-12) Not fluent in rear, headway 4 out, outpaced when awkward next, well beaten after, went 4th before 2 out, 4th of 8, 16 3/4l behind Versatility (10-12) at Warwick 2m 3f (4) gd in May.
