Verdict

Downtherefordancin atoned for his unlucky defeat at Bangor last month when making all to win at Newton Abbot last time and is the obvious choice to follow up with Woodybetheone and hurdling debutant Bluegrass Beau rated the main dangers. The last mentioned was the best of these on the level on his day but has been on the downgrade over the last year and it is difficult to know how much enthusiasm he retains. The switch to hurdles may rejuvenate Brendan Powell's gelding but he is probably best watched. Oliver Sherwood's Woodybetheone has been placed in both his starts over timber and is entitled to be thereabouts again, especially as he is closely matched with the selection on running behind Kavi at Bangor. However, Downtherefordancin has done little wrong since then and seems more than up to defying the penalty. Stablemate Strenue was well held behind the selection last time and is clearly the Pipe second string.
