In depth

Verdict

Beauly can defy a seven-pound penalty at the expense of The Hearty Joker and Princess Aimee in a race that should not take too much winning. Martin Pipe was obviously impressed by Beauly's easy success at Exeter last time as the nine-year-old, trained then by John O'Shea, had Pipe's runner Delaware back in fourth place. Claimed afterwards, he lines up under a penalty now but has little to beat and can follow up with conditions in his favour. The main danger could be The Hearty Joker if back to his best, but he has been disappointing since put back over hurdles and is no reliable conveyance at present. Princess Aimee picked up a similar race to this at Market Rasen the time before last and will appreciate being back at this level after her run in better grade at Bangor. The rest make no appeal, and Beauly should really make his first outing for the Pipe yard a winning one.
