BOLD TIE, Evelyn May and Amosite all have some appeal in this lowly opener, and our preference is for the first named. Richard Hannon's colt is joint top weight with Barry Hills' filly and Queen of Thebes, but is lightly raced with this being just his third outing. He won second time out at Windsor as a two year old, and if training on well since that run in October capable of winning on turf here for the first time. This is a slight step down in trip from his previous outings, but that looks to be a positive factor. He's well drawn, as are Evelyn May and Amosite. The former has yet to win on turf, with her sole success coming at Great Leighs, but that was over this trip. She was placed last time out in a better race than this over six furlongs, but the all-weather tracks may bring more success. Amosite may be in the grip of the handicapper after winning two runs back, but the rise in weights proved too much when attempting to follow up. The ability is clearly there, and she should be more than one from 17. We're siding with an improver though, and that's Bold Tie.
