Verdict

This has been run twice and Willie Mullins has won both. Allblak Des Places and REAL STEEL represent the champion trainer here. The former made a winning start for the yard over hurdles here before finishing a close second to Footpad in a Grade 1 at Leopardstown but didn't go on as expected subsequently. The latter also made a successful debut for the stable over hurdles at Thurles before racing in top company over timber. He fell at the last on his chasing bow at Leopardstown but had jumped well up to then and can make amends. Burgas has more experience than these rivals and has run some fine races but a career strike-rate of 1-22 is off-putting. Glenloe, beaten a nose in the Pertemps Final in March, was sent to Plumpton for his chasing bow but made too many mistakes and was well beaten though he'll have come on for the experience. His stable companion Carter McKay, a winning point-to-pointer, bumper and hurdler, didn't run well on his debut over fences at Naas but there should be much more to come.
