Paper Lantern ran in strong novice company before finishing a close second on his handicap debut at Down Royal but couldn't take advantage a few days later at Tramore where he was beaten when falling. Fergiethelegend was in very good form around this time a year ago, winning very easily at Naas in February, so he's due a return to his best. Rare Legend produced his best run over fences at Thurles a year ago and was having his first subsequent start when placed over timber there last month. He can get into the frame but the useful hunter Goldmineinthesky has been beaten a long way in both starts in handicaps. SIMPLE STEPS has won twice between the flags and shown enough in five starts, especially when runner-up to Smadynium at Clonmel last month, that there's a race over regulation fences in him so he's handed the vote.
