    Verdict

    Golden Pearl scrambled to victory over the course and distance in September though the placed horses have won subsequently. A long absence is a concern so the race fitness of Blood Moon and MUNSHID may prove too much for him. The pair met over 5f at Dundalk in April where the former, who was conceding 5lb, was beaten a length and a half. He's since run in better company but the winner looks a very progressive performer and should have his measure again. Fit For Function won over the track and trip in July but hasn't shown much subsequently.

    Golden Pearl 7-1 (9-0) Tracked leaders, 5th halfway, progress to lead 1f out, under pressure and kept on well inside final furlong, all out, won at Fairyhouse 6f mdn Good - Yielding in Sep beating Clear Cut (9-5) by shd, 16 ran.

    Fit For Function 50-1 (8-11) Chased leaders on inner early, soon towards rear, pushed along and headway on inner from over 2f out, soon edged slightly left briefly, disputed 3rd 1f out, no impression after, 7th of 8, 5 1/4l behind Reckless Endeavour (9-4) at Gowran Park 7f gf in May.
