Verdict

DUNRAVEN STORM has to give weight away courtesy of his Ascot bumper victory earlier in the campaign, and he is taken to get back to winning ways in division one of the bumper, while Bally Legend and Countoten are interesting in opposition. The last-named is partnered by the champion jockey and has bags of stamina in the pedigree. He increased in price as a three-year-old and sees the racecourse for the first time today. The stiff circuit will suit and a good run is on the cards, though he will surely be better for a step up in trip. Bally Legend made a nice debut on bottomless ground at Chepstow last month and should come on for that, and also some better ground. The trainer has her runners in good form this spring and her gelding has to be taken seriously. Shrewd Investment represents a handler that does well in this sphere and he showed that he was going the right way at Doncaster, so further improvement is anticipated. Spock should also show more for his Wincanton debut and a market check is advised, though preference is just for Dunraven Storm. Although out of his depth in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham last time, he did the job very nicely on his Ascot debut and this is more like that type of assignment. The ground also suits here and with his extra experience we will take him to defy his penalty.
