Verdict

First Love has disappointed in two starts back after an absence and is probably best watched for the moment, so preference is for Football Crazy who gets the verdict over Chivite. The last mentioned is trained by Philip Hobbs and has been in good form of late but has risen in the weights as a result. Martin Pipe's Major Belle, the chosen runner from three five-day entrants from the stable, has failed to complete in two point-to-points of late but is probably better than he has shown in that sphere. He has to be respected, along with David Gandolfo's inconsistent Anzal but it is Football Crazy who gets the vote. Useful on his day on the level, Peter Bowen's gelding is unexposed over hurdles and showed last time that his turn may come soon. That day may have arrived today.
