In depth

Verdict

Gironde,Mohawk Star and Lovers Lane look the three to concentrate on in the opener and the narrow vote is given to Gironde. The selection was a fair second behind Itsmyboy last time out. That looks rock solid in the context of this race and he need only run up that mark to score. Mohawk Star rates the main danger on his latest fourth behind Romany Prince but he gave the impression he would be seen to better effect over a longer trip on that occasion and for that reason he is opposed. Lovers Lane showed a modicum of ability on his only run to date in a bumper. Hails from a top yard and should be noted in the market. Of the remainder Sooty From Mitcham is a well bred sort and is one to keep an eye on with a view to the future but for the winner we return to Gironde.
