In depth

Verdict

A tough race to call here for punters and the principals look to be Thenford Star, Macmar and September Moon, with the narrow nomination given to Thenford Star. The selection shaped as if he were in need of the run when only sixth behind Hurlers Cross on his first outing of the season last time. That horse has since gone on to frank the form and with the longer trip also looking to be in his favour he should go well. Macmar rates the main danger on his latest third behind Willies Way. He is another that should appreciate this longer trip but he is often let down by his jumping. September Moon is game and consistent and is sure to run his race but on a line through Hurlers Cross he has a little to find with the selection. Happy Hussar won a selling hurdle last time out but he looks vulnerable in this more competitive affair, while Sky Warrior looks weighted up to his best. Manx Royal has won off a much higher mark in the past but he has shown little of late and with this in mind Thenford Star is taken to regain the winning thread.
