Verdict

A race little better than plating class and MONTANA GOLD is the call with Turnworth and Local Present among the dangers. The selection ran creditably enough at Chepstow last time out and with the trip no issue, he will give another solid account. Turnworth stayed 2m4f with few problems and off a low handicap mark, he could very much be open to progression. Local Present hails from a yard that are in form. His breeding suggests that he should enjoy this step up in distance. Oxford De Lagarde looked a useful hurdler a few seasons ago but things have not panned out for him as anticipated. Brandy And Pep placed off 64 at Hereford and now attempts to go one better off 70. Misstori Belle has been point-to-pointing and it can be seldom that Philip Hobbs has handled a horse quite so low down on BHA figures. Daarth ran no sort of race at Wetherby over hurdles last time out so he has been hastily switched to the larger obstacles. Whatcanisay is well in versus his old form though his completion rate has been modest in the interim. Montana Gold gets the nod.
