In depth

Verdict

Makfool should now be ready to strike and can justify support over Big Bad Burt and Garrigon. Mick Channon's colt, a son of Spectrum, returns to the scene of his latest effort when second over the same distance, seven furlongs. He set a moderate pace that day but was not really asked for a serious effort when passed. More forceful tactics should do the trick and he can make all to open his account. Big Bad Burt made an inauspicious start to his career on Lingfield's Polytrack when veering right at the start and was never able to recover. Given the form of his yard's juveniles, the son of Efisio is surely better than that and may give the selection most to do. The rest look nothing special, but Garrigon has some experience and may be worth noting for a place. However, Makfool is fully expected to visit the winner's enclosure.
