Verdict

Sahaal looks to be the one to beat here after a decent effort at Bath last time and the one we nominate to lower his colours is CHEAM FOREVER. The Roger Charlton-trained selection races from the same mark as when going close at Bath himself, over this trip, last month, and is suited by these fast conditions. Despite that run having scuppered his hat-trick bid there is no reason why he cannot return to the premier spot in the post-race enclosure. There are others with claims, but it is possible to pick holes in their make-up. Sahaal is raised 5lbs for winning his Bath race over a similar trip to this. That was in maiden company and after having been beaten from lower marks than this already in handicaps he is sure to find this tougher. Chadwell Spring is 3lbs higher than when taking a 1m 1f Lingfield handicap on similar going and from bottom weight has to enter calculations, while Pegasus Lad has become expensive to follow. Royal Superlative is lightly-raced and should be capable of better than she showed at Newbury. Fast ground and this drop back in trip should help her cause, but Fazbee is hard to fancy at present despite sliding in the weights. Cheam Forever is given the vote.
