Peter Paul Rubens has shown improved form of late winning his last three starts and has to be respected but preference is for Desert Destiny, who gets the vote over Material Witness. The selection hails from the powerful, and in-form, Godolphin stable and has been unlucky not to win a race previously this term having found the likes of Arakan (in the Criterion) and latterly Polar Way too good for him. This represents a drop in class for the son of Desert Prince and he is taken to go one better than at Warwick last time. Peter Paul Rubens has an obvious chance on recent evidence but this looks tougher than the race she has won of late and Paul Cole's colt may have to settle for a minor role. John Dunlop's Iqte Saab is less exposed than most but may want a softer surface to show his best form and of more interest may be Andrew Balding's Vanderlin, who is capable but none too consistent. Kings Point and Mac Love both have claims on their best form but a bigger threat is likely to come from Material Witness. Willie Muir's gelding has been a progressive performer this summer, winning his fourth race of the current campaign when successful at Goodwood last month and is entitled to be thereabouts again. However, he faces a stiff task off level weights with Desert Destiny who may have too much class for his rivals.
