In depth

Verdict

The Lamplighter had Evasive Power back in fourth when scoring at Goodwood but the latter, who had won at Lingfield earlier, stumbled out of the stalls and has enough of a pull in the weights to reverse the form. Billy Mill's double in the spring came on Tapeta and fast ground and he's looked a few pounds high subsequently while Doc Sportello's last three victories have been on Tapeta. HANDYTALK's last success was on soft ground at Bath and he led for a long way over 7f at Chepstow last time. He's 3lb lower than that last victory and has Laura Pearson's claim as a bonus so looks the one to beat.
