In depth

Verdict

Rated 109, THE ANVIL should be winning this on his reappearance. A narrow defeat in the Group Two Royal Lodge at Newmarket was his best effort of last year and Ballydoyle stablemate Iron Mountain will need a big improvement to match that form. But the latter was ahead of You Will Do For Me when fourth here on his debut and there should be more to come form him while Jim Bolger’s filly Modern Approach makes most appeal of the newcomers ahead of Mauricio.
