In depth

Verdict

Dusty In Memphis didn't have much to beat over the course and distance last week but did it in the style of an improver. Regal Power struggled in handicaps after completing a long-range double at the Curragh in June on his reappearance and the assessor has loosened his grip. NINGALOO REEF is handed the vote as he scored over the trip here last August and showed his liking for the track with a hard-fought victory over a mile last week. Cool Athlete rarely runs over a trip this short nowadays and was on a favourable mark when scoring over a mile in September. Fleet Captain is 8lb higher than his last success on this track a year ago though he hasn't been running badly off his new mark. Lake George has won four times on Turf but hasn't had much all-weather experience though he's now on his lowest mark for a long time. Doc Holliday led for most of the way when scoring over a mile here last month but was fading in the closing stages and will be better suited by this trip. Penny Serenade was on a very lowly mark when she completed a double on Turf in mid-summer but is a progressive filly who can go well again.
