In depth

Verdict

Havelock Ellis has a huge weight to carry after being raised 10lb for last week's victory over a mile here though he has no problems with the longer trip. He has the beating of Cristy's Call on earlier running but it's about time VICTOR'S BEACH was winning and he won't have to face Minot Street this time. He's twice finished behind that one recently and the form received a boost when the latter scored again on Wednesday. His trainer is represented here by Stynes, a winner over hurdles last month and not beaten far in a strong race here a couple of weeks later. Aidan O'Brien's Duarte Fernandes has a magnificent pedigree but has never looked like winning a race. Clare Harrier appeared to find 1m4f too far when last seen here in March after winning over the course and distance earlier.
