In depth

Verdict

VIC VENTURI, who is in the Grand National, may not quite be the force of old but would be conceding 20lb and more to these rivals in a handicap and hasn't entirely lost his ability judged on recent runs in Grade events. He should be approaching his peak and can see off another Aintree entry in Ambobo on these advantageous terms. Inistioge landed a Grade 3 at Limerick at this time a year ago but has been running moderately and was runner-up in a three-runner event last time. Selection Box hasn't won for two years and isn't the most consistent of performers but produces a good effort every now and then and this could be one of his going days. Wheresben beat Vic Venturi three lengths in receipt of 10lb to land the Paddy Power at Leopardstown in December 2008 but was having his first start since when pulling up at Fairyhouse last month.
