Verdict

A small but select field and HEATHCOTE can defy his winners' penalties to see off Degas Art and Chapoturgeon. Proven in small fields, Gary Moore's charge should not have too many problems with the likely going and should continue to prove himself a better chaser than hurdler. Degas Art is likely to be popular amongst the locals. A smart flat horse, he ran Katchit close over hurdles before that rival went on to win at the Cheltenham festival. Chapoturgeon is in receipt of all the allowances. A dual winner over hurdles, he does not appear to be the strongest of finishers. The Duke's Speech has tended to put up his better efforts when the field sizes are bigger and a slow run pace might expose his fencing frailties. King In Waiting will need to have found massive improvement in order to take any sort of hand in this affair. Heathcote gets the vote.
