Verdict

With none of the 15 runners having raced previously this is not a race top be getting heavily involved in and what can only be a tentative vote goes to Blue Wing, who is preferred to Blue Rising and Comeonshe. The last mentioned represents the stable of Howard Johnson so has to be respected for that fact alone but the daughter of Commanche Run is bred to want further than this 1m5f trip and she is probably best watched. Ferdy Murphy has his string in good form at present so the American bred Blue Rising should not be discounted, while Michael Scudamore's Silly Miss Off, who is also American bred, is another runner hailing from an in-form yard. Pat Haslam is more than capable of producing a runner to win first time out and his Differentgear, a son of Robellino, makes plenty of appeal on pedigree. A market move for Tom Tate's The Duke's Speech would be of interest but the vote goes to Blue Wing. The son of Bluebird is a likely type on pedigree and Mick Easterby's gelding has every chance of making a winning debut.
