In depth

Verdict

There are some interesting newcomers here including Sir Michael Stoute's Pivotal colt Institute and the Barry Hills-trained Daraahem but the latter's stablemate Slam sets a fair standard and he gets the vote. The selection has improved with each start and lost no caste in defeat at Newmarket last time when beaten just the narrowest of margins by Fireside. A reproduction of that effort may well suffice. Mark Johnston's Drill Sergeant has similarly improved with experience and has to be considered along with Kevin Ryan's Tiger Dream who has found one too good in both starts so far. Speedy Dollar may well improve from his debut outing but Slam has solid claims and he is preferred.
