In depth

Verdict

Smarterthanuthink is our selection in this handicap with Lilac Moon and Eijaaz the dangers. Smarterthanuthink made all to score at Hamilton and while a recent failure on a soft surface has to be overlooked, the long straight at Doncaster should prove very much to his liking this evening. Lilac Moon landed a gamble at Lingfield. Admittedly, her turf form isn't much to write home about but a mark of 61 does not look too bad on paper and it is no mean feat to win at Lingfield from the front. Eijaaz will be held up again at the back. He was well ahead of Monfils Monfils when the pair met at Beverley. Fenners probably found soft ground against him in a recent Ladies' race at Ripon. Today's conditions should produce a markedly improved effort. Dar Es Salaam is another for whom a late rattle can be anticipated. War Of The Roses is rated much higher on the all-weather than the turf but can be forgiven for needing the run after an absence. Shanafarahan is yet to sparkle this term. Smarterthanuthink is our selection.
