In depth

Verdict

Go Go Green made an encouraging debut at Doncaster at the beginning of the month and has to be respected on that evidence but marginal preference is for Where's Reiley, who gets the vote with Russet Reward rated the pick of the remainder. The selection also made an encouraging debut when a close second of four in a Hamilton maiden auction race but that was on a softish surface and, unless the rain arrives, the ground should be more suitable for David Barron's colt here. Mark Johnston's Pride Of Kings was well held on his Ascot debut in an admittedly better race than this and should come on for the run but he may need more time. Richard Fahey's well bred Master Noverre looks the pick of the newcomers but a bigger threat is likely to come from Russet Reward. The son of Bahamian Bounty has run creditably in both starts so far but is held by the selection on running at Hamilton last time and would probably want a softer surface. This is a potentially interesting contest and we are happy to side with Where's Reiley to take it.
