In depth

Verdict

LAY CLAIM is a likely looking sort although the likes of Colonel Carter and Antoniola won't be brushed aside. Lay Claim was returned a beaten favourite on his last two starts which was a shade disappointing given his narrow debut defeat at Newbury behind a subsequent Group 3 placed runner where Colonel Carter was just over a length behind in third. His last start was the most disappointing of all but it wouldn't be any surprise if he were to get back on track this season and he's the suggestion with the proviso of market support. Colonel Carter has progressed with each start and was impressive at Newbury on his reappearance; his mark doesn't appear to be unreasonable and he should have more to offer. Antoniola was a shade disappointing at Ripon but a return to this venue and a stronger gallop may help to see him in a better light whilst Don't Call Me also has to rate as a big danger following a decent second in a warm race at Redcar which has seen the winner frank the form. The market may be the best guide to the chances of the returning Bahamian Music, Les Yeux Bleus and, indeed, those of the selection Lay Claim.
