Verdict

A tricky contest to evaluate as a few of these have already met this season, with varying results. Wild Coco beat Jehannedarc and Queen's Vase winner Estimate over this trip at Goodwood on her reappearance but doesn't stand much racing and whether she'll reproduce that form here is questionable. Estimate's trainer Sir Michael Stoute also has Monshak in the line-up but she refused to race at York last time having looked a progressive filly at Chester in July. Kailani beat Hazel Lavery over 1m2f at Newmarket in May and again had Charles Hills' filly behind when seventh in the Ribblesdale at Ascot. The latter was also behind Wild Coco at Goodwood but did beat AMBIVALENT over 1m4f at Newmarket in July. Roger Varian's charge left that form behind when beating good yardstick Set To Music on much quicker going at Newbury next time, however, and has a generally progressive profile. Her breeding suggests she'll enjoy the more searching test of stamina so she gets a tentative vote with the hat-trick-seeking Gallipot and Cracking Lass likely to find this too tough, though Richard Fahey's five-year-old did finish ahead of Bite Of The Cherry at York last month.
