Verdict

Sleeping Indian can beat Arakan, with Ifraaj, Court Masterpiece and Quito all making for an interesting contest. Sleeping Indian has only been beaten once in five career starts, and that was in Group 1 company at Goodwood where he was fifth in soft ground behind Proclamation in the Sussex Stakes. Other than that he has been a revelation, having won both his starts last year, and quickly bouncing back from his defeat at the Sussex track to land the Group 3 Hungerford Stakes at Newbury. He is still on the upgrade and this slight rise in class will not find him out. Arakan probably has a bit to find in truth but there was no fluke about his Listed success at York last time. However, he will do well to maintain that form over Quito on five-pound worse terms, and the latter is always likely to be a threat as he is so game at the end of his races. Connections still believe that Ifraaj is Group class and the Wokingham winner bids to atone for his poor effort in the Darley July Cup. Maybe the rain-softened ground contributed to his lacklustre effort, and he may bounce back. Court Masterpiece has to give weight away all round but is a proven Group performer and hails from a stable in form, but Sleeping Indian is on the up and up and should be supported.
