In depth

Verdict

Last year’s winner Amazing Maria is back for more but needs to reverse latest running at Newmarket with Falmouth Stakes winner Alice Springs. The Ballydoyle filly in turn has a bit to find with QEMAH as she was only third to Jean-Claude Rouget’s charge when the latter won the Coronation Stakes in fine style at Ascot last month. Mark Johnston’s Lumiere returned to winning ways in Listed company last time but still has something to prove at this level, as does Volta, but Esoterique won this in 2014 and it would be no surprise if she bounced back to her best today for Andre Fabre.
