Verdict

Aidan O'Brien won the first three renewals before Jim Bolger scored with a 20/1 chance last year. The latter's TRIBAL BEAT started favourite for the opening two-year-old race of the season on very heavy ground here in March but wasn't suited by the conditions and needed the experience. He'll do much better over this extra furlong and gets the vote though O'Brien's pair Air Force Blue and Painted Cliffs have to be respected. The former cost almost half-a-million dollars and is related to winners in the USA and Japan while the latter, a 200,000 euros son of Canford Cliffs, is out of a mare who produced a winner with her first foal. Independence Day is related to three winners and out of the very speedy Group 1 winner Damson.
