Verdict

A good renewal of the Tattersalls Gold Cup with last year's Irish Derby winner FAME AND GLORY hoping to fend off Godolphin's new French import Cutlass Bay. The selection was one of last season's top middle-distance three-year-olds and warmed-up for this by winning the Mooresbridge Stakes over course-and-distance. Cutlass Bay is also race-fit having landed the Prix Ganay. Godolphin struck with another new signing from Andre Fabre's yard at Goodwood in the week and this colt could be their flagbearer for the season ahead. The worry here is the lack of time he has had to acclimatise in England and the ground will be quicker than he's used to. With that in mind we'll take Fame And Glory to strike for Ballydoyle.
