In depth

Verdict

Aidan O'Brien had no less than twelve entered at the five-day stage and relies on KINGDOM. The son of Montjeu made a fair start on heavy going at Galway last month and was fancied to take a Gowran maiden a couple of weeks later but didn't run as well as expected on the quicker ground. Conditions should suit here and he's handed the vote though Dermot Weld has set his stall out with three entries. Pat Smullen rides the experienced Cool Metallic so he's likely to be the stable pick though he was disappointing when attempting to make all for the first time at Galway and more restraining tactics will probably be employed. Jim Bolger was well represented at the early stage and Sophisticated Heir is certain to have come on for his introduction at Dundalk last month.
