Verdict

Maudlin Magdalen was the shock winner of this a year ago but she's mainly been confined to hurdles subsequently. Tandem completed a hat-trick earlier in the summer and didn't get the run of the race at Galway, though wasn't making much impression when impeded. Spruce Meadows is better at Dundalk as he showed last time but the lightly-raced Pincheck will enjoy the conditions and should have more to offer. MAWAANY, a winner over the course and distance in May, has been racing over further and almost held on over 1m4f at Galway. Back to his best trip, Ger Lyons' grey can regain the winning thread. Panstarr was impressive on soft ground at Gowran and a 9lb rise is unlikely to prevent another big run.
