In depth

Verdict

CLEAR CUT was beaten a short-head in a Newmarket maiden in October and was expected to make a successful return at Dundalk three weeks ago but found Bear Faced, who has since run reasonably well in a Listed contest in France, much too good. Jim Bolger's charge should go one better. A Likely Story was only just touched off when making his debut at Dundalk in September and possibly found soft ground against him at Navan a couple of weeks later. He should be winning soon while Dermot Weld also runs the 125,000gns yearling Dalton Highway, who is one to keep an eye on. Tommy Stack's well-connected Keytotheoperation completely missed the break at Dundalk a couple of weeks ago and the run is best forgotten.
