Dual bumper winner KATE APPLEBY SHOES was a bit disappointing when only third on her hurdling debut and was well beaten by Barra on her next start at Fairyhouse. That winner is useful and Willie Mullins' mare should gain her first victory over timber. Theatre Wine is also penalised for her bumper victory and though she made a very encouraging debut over hurdles at Roscommon in October she's disappointed in her subsequent starts. Awayinthewest, another bumper winner, has performed with credit in two strong maidens over timber and it will be a surprise if she's not thereabouts while winning point-to-pointer Marienstar showed her first real sign of form over hurdles over the minimum trip here last month. The Kings Baby was a long way behind the selection last time and probably needs much further but Strike Is Back has shown a bit of potential in bumpers.
