      Verdict

      SPUD made a promising start when beaten only a neck over a slightly shorter trip here despite not getting a clear run. Tom Dascombe’s charge should have improved for that experience and will take the beating in the opener. Manor Park has plenty to find with the selection but Weinberg will likely finish closer dropping back in trip today. Fanan is a half-brother to several winners and makes most appeal of the newcomers.
