Verdict

This is a good quality handicap to finish off the meeting and we take Gavroche to defy topweight with Kings Empire and Hatch a Plan the dangers. Hatch a Plan won only a weak Windsor handicap last time albeit by three lengths from Miss Pebbles but this is a tougher race to carry a six pound penalty. Kings Empire will improve for a decent fourth at Nottingham in a maiden auction contest having won on the Southwell fibresand last season, but looks to have too much weight on the balance of the form. Magic Sting won a Hamilton Classified event last time but was then well beaten at Leicester in a handicap next time and now appears exposed. Gavroche was forced to race on the outside when fourth at Windsor behind La Persiana but had previously been a good winner of an event similar to tonight's at Goodwood and before that had beaten the well backed Etmaam at Doncaster-very good form. Gavroche gets the vote to pick up the winning thread once more.
