In depth

Verdict

Mcnamaras Band has run a couple of nice races here as he was unlucky on his hurdling debut and then stayed on into third behind a useful novice. He’ll be fancied to make it third-time lucky today but MERCY MERCY ME has his sights dramatically lowered after contesting the Tolworth Hurdle last time. Third in a Grade 2 earlier at Sandown, he’s had wind surgery and is fitted with cheekpieces here so it would be no surprise to see him finally get his head in front. Connect Four has a nice pedigree for jumping and Glen Vine was a fair fourth at Exeter in January. Karabunga Dude’s breeding suggests he’ll make a chaser one day, however.
