In depth

Verdict

Quite an interesting race where we're going to side with Dont Tell Baby. Many eyes will be on Cloud Nine as he's a half-brother to a host of smart performers but he may need obstacles and more time. Flow Gently Along was only 11 lengths behind the well-regarded Mahonia over course and distance; form which marks her down as a leading player in this contest and she's worth a place on any short-list. Silver Spinner will need to improve as will The Silent King but the latter would be interesting if attracting support. The quick ground at Southwell may well not have played to his strengths whilst Mick Fitzgerald, who takes over in the saddle, has partnered three of the yard's four bumper winners this season. The selection was a cheap purchase but there was a lot to like about his debut on good ground at Wincanton back in November. He finished on the heels of representatives from the big yards having stayed on well from the rear. He's been off since, has to improve and has to prove he can handle the ground but, if the money arrives, stand up and take notice of Dont Tell Baby.
