Verdict

The Martin Pipe-trained Forbearing has never been the most straightforward of rides and may be worth taking on as he attempts to follow up last month's gutsy win at Leicester from a 5lb higher mark - even though he is the stable's first choice on jockey bookings. However, Downtherefordancing, who can utilise a 9lb weight-for-age allowance, is well treated on the terms of the race and may be able to cause a minor upset if everything drops right for him as the race unfolds. The presence of Yorkshire, who runs his best races from the front, should ensure that there is no hanging about and everything could be set up for a strong finisher today. Nothing fits that profile better than Downtherefordancing and, with Jamie Moore taking 3lb off his back, the son of Groom Dancer can make the most of what appears to be a very fair chance at the weights. North Point, a decent performer on the Flat, is an interesting alternative and is one to monitor for signs of confidence as he returns to hurdles after a winter break.
