Verdict

AWESOME FREDDIE is narrowly preferred in a race involving plenty of guesswork. Described as big and rangy, and more laid-back than his half-brother Awesome George, this gelding should appreciate the cut in the ground and is expected to go well for an in-form yard. Paul Nicholls has a strong hand, with Robin Will looking the more likely contender than his stablemate Sonofvic despite the jockey bookings. The former may still be a bit immature but he looks the sort to come to hand quicker than Sonofvic, a brother to the slow developer Aiteen Thirtythree. Ohio Gold is well-thought-of by Colin Tizzard and this chaser-in-the-making is respected, especially if the market speaks in his favour, whilst Lobby Ludd needs a market check on his debut under rules as he was well-backed ahead of his point-to-point bow. Teaforthree looks the best of the rest with AP McCoy retaining the partnership on Rebecca Curtis's son of Oscar as he goes hurdling for the first time.
