Verdict

Placed in the last two runnings of the Foxhunter here, SHANTOU FLYER has run well back in handicaps this term. He’s a strong traveller who isn’t fazed by big fields and it’s a bonus that Harry Cobden can ride him in this given the race is usually restricted to amateurs. Beau Bay is sure to be up with the pace but this trip will likely find him out. Kilfilum Cross, Bob Mahler, Plan Of Attack and Deise Aba all ran well in the race last year and have claims again with the latter showing a welcome return to form at Sandown. Didero Vallis won a fair handicap at Catterick last month and is still on a decent mark and Musical Slave has always looked capable of winning a race like this and he was staying on when third at Ascot last time, ahead of Cobolobo. Storm Control should also give Richard Patrick a good ride as he’s twice jumped for fun around here this season and can be excused his latest run over 3m5f at Warwick. Hold The Note placed at The Festival last year and looked better after wind surgery at Newbury but is now 0-9 over fences with Mount Ida more interesting having a first run in a handicap.
