Verdict

This is the traditional 'getting out stakes' and affords punters the chance to escape their debts for the week. Howle Hill is an outsider to consider, Desert Quest is an enigma but looks sure to go well, and Studmaster is a progressive type with recent winning form, with the one time useful Flat performer Desert Quest getting the nod in the belief the ground is drying out. Studmaster has done nothing wrong, winning his last two starts. However, there is the suspicion he prefers more cut in the ground and the runner up to him last time was well beaten on his following start. However, he couldn't have been more impressive and looks set to run a big race. Howle Hill is generously priced as he is without a win this season. He is rated 100 on the Flat and has been keeping good company over hurdles. His fifth behind Lingo over this course and distance in November looks solid form with the third, Phar Bleu, placed earlier in the week. Desert Quest is the one they all have to beat. A four time winner this season, he turned in his best performance to date when scoring at Newbury last time, and although raised eleven pounds for that success, can shrug off the weight. He turned in a top class performance on fast ground at Royal Ascot at York last summer, and will relish the ground here as it dries out. The stable have already enjoyed success at the meeting, and Paul Nicholls' Desert Quest can get the punters out of jail.
