    Verdict

Perouse can complete a hat-trick at the expense of Thesis and Claude Greengrass. The latter made his debut over fences at Newbury 12 days ago but was a bit disappointing, finishing down the field. Maybe it had something to do with the headgear being left off, but Jonjo O'Neill has decided to switch Claude Greengrass back to hurdles, and as he has already landed a gamble or two in this sphere, any moves should be noted. However, Perouse has looked the part in his two wins this term, at Wincanton and at Fontwell just three days ago. Paul Nicholls was going to send the five-year-old novice chasing, but the handicapper has put him up no less than 17lb for the Wincanton success, forcing connections to run him here. He is therefore absolutely thrown in at the weights and should be the answer. Thesis has the assistance of Tony McCoy despite Martin Pipe having two entries, so Venetia Williams' charge is on the short-list as well. Ridden to success twice by the champion in May, he faced no easy task under topweight at Wetherby on only his second race since a break, so did well to finish third. He should be involved as well, but from a handicapping point of view it is hard to escape the claims of Perouse, providing he is over his recent exertions.
