In depth

Verdict

Simply Clever finished ahead of Go On Gal, Aksum and Nutzma when second over course and distance last month then went one better at Wetherby. But a 6lb penalty complicates matters and means he has to give 11lb to MELGATE MELODY. Mick Easterby's gelding can race off the same mark as when a close second at Redcar on his reappearance and this is, if anything, a weaker race. Never Say has been beaten in sellers but Tyrannical will probably recoup Brighton losses over the coming months and Becca Campbell shapes as though the longer trip will suit.
