In depth

Verdict

Uptown Funk disappointed on his first run since being gelded at Ascot and is best watched now but Sputnik Planum is getting closer and Mancini has been lightly raced. Kerrera was third off her new mark at Kempton after winning at Newmarket so goes on the short-list while Woofie has only gone up 2lb since winning over 2m here in July. Regal Gait won here in October last year and again in April, though hasn’t raced since. PLATO’S KODE showed steady improvement at Bath in the summer and has since proved himself among the best of the early-season juveniles over hurdles. He seemed to handle Polytrack in the spring and could be well handicapped.
